Van Den Heuvel gets public defender in loan fraud case

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (From WBAY) - Businessman Ron Van Den Heuvel, the founder of Green Box NA Green Bay LLC who is involved in a federal bank fraud case, is being appointed a public defender.

Action 2 News has learned Van Den Heuvel misrepresented his finances to the court and now says he can't afford an attorney.

He's already been through two attorneys, and now the court has appointed him a federal public defender.

The court will now reconsider his bond and look into why he claimed the income and assets he did.

Van Den Heuvel and his wife are accused of conspiracy to commit bank fraud.

A former Appleton bank loan officer took a plea deal last week and was convicted of supplying a loan to Van Den Heuvel that wasn't authorized by the bank.
