Stora Enso to Sell Three German Box Plants to Prinzhorn

Stora Enso Oyj has entered into an agreement with Prinzhorn to sell three box plants in Germany with 240 million cubic meters of corrugated capacity, approximately 125,000 tonnes.

Prinzhorn is the fourth-largest producer of recycled containerboard in the European Union with 2.4 million tonnes of capacity. The company operates as a regional Central European box-maker with 24 box plants and 2.6 billion cubic meters of capacity, approximately 1.4 million tonnes.

The 240 million cubic meters being sold represents 13% of Stora Enso's 1,840 million cubic meters corrugated capacity. The box plants were not integrated with Stora Enso's containerboard mills.

Following the transaction, Prinzhorn's capacity in Germany will increase from 160 million to 400 million cubic meters, representing approximately 3% of the German market.

The box plants generated €74 million in sales in 2025. No financial terms of the deal were disclosed.
