Roseburg Forest Products restarting construction activities at Dillard MDF plant in Oregon

Roseburg Forest Products has resumed construction activities at its Dillard MDF plant in southern Oregon, a central project to the company's long-term growth strategy. The facility will feature a next-generation Siempelkamp continuous press capable of producing both MDF and HDF panels ranging from 2 mm to 28 mm in thickness. The restart follows a pause in early 2025 due to economic uncertainty.

The new plant will convert wood residuals into panels for construction, cabinetry and flooring markets, integrating fully with Roseburg's existing Dillard complex to utilize local wood fiber and biomass energy. Operations are scheduled to begin in late 2028, with the company expecting to employ more than 140 people at the facility.

"The plant will be one of the lowest cost producers in the world, which significantly enhances Roseburg's long-term competitive position," said Stuart Gray, president and CEO. The new press will be installed on the same footprint as the first Siempelkamp press supplied to Roseburg more than five decades ago.
