PCA making investment at mill

BENSENVILLE, IL – Packaging Corporation of America announced this week that its Boise Paper division would increase its commitment to enhancing product performance and capability in support of its growing pressure sensitive paper business in Wallula, Washington.

The announced strategic investment in Wallula’s #3 paper machine includes a headbox upgrade and a former rebuild. These targeted enhancements will further differentiate Boise’s pressure sensitive products by increasing formation uniformity and reducing cross direction profile variation. Reducing product variation is crucial to pressure sensitive customers, who require some of the most stringent quality standards among end users of paper.

Expanded capabilities on the #3 machine at Wallula will also address customer needs that include expanded functionality for label release liner applications, layflat release liners for graphic display applications, and coated facestocks.

The upgrades will be installed in June 2014.

The investment demonstrates PCA’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of the Boise Paper business, the company said.
