Packaging Corporation of America shuttering Lehigh County, Pennsylvania locations

UPPER MACUNGIE TWP., Pa. (From news reports) -- A packaging supply company is shuttering two locations in Lehigh County.

According to a WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification) Act notice from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor, Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) will close facilities at 7451 and 7620 Cetronia Road in Upper Macungie Township.

The company refers to its location at 7451 as its Trexlertown Full-Line Plant. The 7620 facility is less than a half mile away, inside a Prologis-owned warehouse.

According to the WARN notice, 60 workers will be impacted by the closure, which will take effect December 1.

Packaging Corp. also has a plant in Muhlenberg Township, Berks County, which opened in 2019.

It closed a plant in Allentown in 2017.

PCA is based in Illinois and calls itself the third largest producer of containerboard in North America. According to its website, it operates eight mills and 86 corrugated products plants and related facilities.
