One killed, one injured in accident near mill

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin (From the Green Bay Press Gazette) - A worker was killed Tuesday afternoon and another was seriously hurt when the driver of a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle and hit the two men outside the Georgia-Pacific mill on Green Bay's west side, Green Bay police said Friday.

Brian Delebreau, 56, was killed and Paul Price, 46, were hit when John Convery, 51, of Green Bay, lost control of his truck while driving north on South Broadway and jumped the curb, Lt. Chad Ramos said.

It happened shortly after 1 p.m. Ramos said Price has had surgery for a number of serious injuries. He was unable to provide information about Price's condition. Ramos said he's unclear on whether Delebreau and Price were walking or standing at or near the curb when it happened. The driver told officers he lost control after hitting a bump in the road, Ramos said. His blood is being tested, but he was not believed to have been drunk or under the influence of drugs, Ramos said.

The two men were employees of Hein Construction of De Pere, which is doing work on the Georgia-Pacific grounds on behalf of C.R. Meyer Construction, according to Mike Kawleski of Georgia-Pacific. The accident happened just off the mill property, Kawleski said.
