GREEN BAY, Wis. (From news reports) -- The Wisconsin State Senate did not meet for a vote Sunday to approve nearly $100 million worth of tax incentives to the Kimberly-Clark Corporation.
Kimberly-Clark is on the verge of closing is Fox Crossings facility which has around 500 workers. State Senator David Hansen says the senate did not meet for a vote because some republicans are undecided.
"They are the party, the majority party," Hansen said. "They are way short with their votes, so don't come out here and say 'oh if we get one democrat,' it would be a lot more than that, but there is really no bill in front of us. No vote forth coming, so that's the rest of the story."
Kimberly-Clark was founded in the late 1800's and considers its location in the Fax Valley to be its flagship location.
Governor Scott Walker urged the Senate to meet for a vote, because he wants to protect the union workers at the factory.
"People don't realize, most of what they make at the plant that we are talking about here are things like depends," Walker said. "With an aging population here and around the world, they are actually a growing part of the market place. So it's going from, traditional things like what we are thinking with paper to a very different market place."
Hansen and Walker hope the senate can come to a vote after November's election.
