Mohawk Fine Papers Partners with Kernow Coatings Limited on Cobalt Coating Technology

COHOES, N.Y. (News release) -- Mohawk Fine Papers, Inc., North America's largest privately-owned manufacturer of fine papers, envelopes and specialty materials for printing, announced a strategic partnership with Kernow Coatings Limited, the global leader in optimized high-performance coatings for print, security, engineering and industrial substrates.

Kernow's proprietary Cobalt Coating Technology™ is now available exclusively in North America from Mohawk.

Cobalt Coating Technology™ for HP Indigo represents a new benchmark for HP Indigo synthetics print performance. Cobalt™ offers the next generation of durability and image quality specifically optimized for HP Indigo presses. Built on a well-established knowledge of digital print technology and expertly engineered by Kernow Coatings Limited, NEW Mohawk Synthetics with Cobalt™ deliver ultimate ink adhesion, built-in static control, and best-in-class runnability.

Mohawk Synthetic Performance Polyester with Cobalt™
Manufactured as a solid high-density polyester construction, this portfolio is designed for durable and affordable print applications without sacrificing on-press performance.
• Durable: Moisture, grease, and tear resistant
• Versatile: Available in white and a variety of colors, including clear

Mohawk Synthetic MetaliK® Board with Cobalt™
Targeted at enabling new and unique end-uses that differentiate, the product also allows for superior performance on press.
• Eye-catching: Highly-reflective shine with mirror-like finish
• Flexible: Good rigidity while being easily scored or folded

With a wide range of calipers in white, colored and metallic films offered, the new Mohawk Synthetics with Cobalt™ portfolio enables new durable print applications using four color, white or clear ink. This collection of unique materials eliminates the need for laminating and is made up of synthetics that are tear resistant, great for perforating and die-cutting, and offer a built-in static control and excellent ink adhesion.
