International Paper Supports Communities in Italy During COVID-19 Crisis
BELLUSCO, Italy (News release) -- International Paper is responding to the needs of communities in Italy in the face of COVID-19. The company has been donating thousands of corrugated boxes to a number of hospitals, medical units and charitable organizations such as the Civil Protection, Blue Cross, local foodbanks and others across the communities where it operates.

The Pomezia Box Plant donated a half pallet of corrugated boxes to the Monterotondo Association for Civil and Environmental Protection, a civil protection volunteer organization. The organization is using the boxes to store goods, especially food, for people in need. International Paper has also donated 10,000 corrugated boxes to the Red Cross Italy and two hospitals for the use of surgical waste.

"These boxes are much needed and used for a variety of purposes from packing, storing and shipping essential items such as food for the needy and medical materials to the safe collection and disposal of surgical waste," explains Manuel Guerrero, Regional General Manager Italy for International Paper's corrugated packaging business.

An essential industry, International Paper is delivering critical components of the supply chains required to continue producing and delivering food, pharmaceuticals, hygiene products, and emergency supplies to consumers around the country. The paper and packaging manufacturer continues to operate its facilities and serve its customers, the majority of whom are themselves part of the essential industries that keep the supply of goods flowing in the country. "As a long standing and committed member of the Italian community, International Paper is pleased to be able to offer support in this time of need with our products that people depend on every day," continued Manuel Guerrero. "We thank and applaud all the many Italian people who are working in the front line to fight COVID-19."
