Hamburger Containerboard to close KM1 board machine at Trostberg mill in Bavaria, Germany
GERMANY (News release) -- Hamburger Containerboard plans to close down the cartonboard production at KM1 at its Trostberg mill by the end of the year.

The continuing decline in orders in recent years in addition to enormous maintenance and operating costs of a machine that is almost 100 years old made it impossible to maintain production economically.

The company is currently in negotiations with employee representatives in order to reach an agreement quickly. About 40 workers are linked directly to the cartonboard machine. The turnover share of the cartonboard machine is at the Trostberg Mill is 15%.

Hamburger Containerboard Trostberg mill currently operates with 220 FTE in total. The production of the coated corrugated paper on PM2 is not affected. The site focuses on this segment with new developments based on the latest technology.
