Fire breaks out at International Paper facility in Georgia

EDEN, Ga. (From news reports) -- Effingham County Fire and Rescue responded just after 5 a.m. Monday, September 22, to a fire at the International Paper facility in Eden.

Crews arrived to find a chip conveyor and a nearby chip pile burning. Firefighters quickly knocked down the conveyor fire and continued working the area to ensure the surrounding chip pile was under control.

No injuries were reported, and no buildings were damaged, according to officials on scene.

Additional details about the cause of the fire were not immediately available. Authorities said operations and safety checks continued after the incident to confirm the area was secure.
