Fire at Louisiana-Pacific facility

NORTH CAROLINA (From the Wilkes Journal-Patriot) - The Roaring River and Knotville fire departments were dispatched Tuesday night, 27 Jan. 2015, in response to a small fire at the Louisiana-Pacific Corp. hardboard siding plant on ABTco Road in Roaring River.

Roaring River Fire Chief Dale Pierce said a 4-foot-by-8-foot sheet of particle board got hung up in drying unit, causing it to catch fire and then ignite insulation in a building.

Pierce said the fire smoked up the building but didn't cause any structural or equipment damage.

Roaring River Fire firefighters were dispatched at 10:14 p.m. and Knotville firefighters were dispatched to assist a few minutes later. Pierce said firefighters were on the scene about 1 1/2 hours.
