Equipment malfunction ignites fire at Pixelle Specialty Solutions paper mill in York County, Pennsylvania

SPRING GROVE, Pa. (From news reports) -- Fire crews battled a fire at a paper mill in York County Wednesday morning, September 4, according to the fire chief.

About 15 fire companies responded to the blaze at Pixelle Specialty Solutions in Spring Grove around 2:20 a.m.

The chief says the fire started because of an equipment malfunction that happened near a conveyor belt.

Due to the amount of wood surrounding the mill, the fire posed a major risk.

Crews were able to contain the blaze before it got out of the building.

A few workers were inside the mill at the time of the fire, but no one was taken to the hospital. One of the firefighters was treated for minor injuries, according to the chief.
