Boise Cascade reaches agreement to purchase Holden Humphrey

Boise Cascade has reached an agreement to purchase Humphrey Company, Inc., a two-step distributor of building materials located in Chicopee, Massachusetts, with $145 million in revenue over the last 12 months, according to Boise Cascade.

Founded in 1987, Holden Humphrey supplies siding, wood decking, and trim products to lumber dealers and one-step distributors. The company distributes James Hardie siding and maintains partnerships with CertainTeed and Henry. The acquisition will allow Boise Cascade to expand its product line into several new areas within this geography.

Boise Cascade operates 39 distribution locations in the United States. The new facility will extend its distribution network in the northeast region.

Boise Cascade Executive Vice President Jo Barney said Holden Humphrey's success is based on long-standing relationships with customers and suppliers and a proven record of profitable growth in the northeast. Barney added that the acquisition supports the company's growth strategy and broadens its product offering in the region.

Holden Humphrey President Lance Humphrey said he and business partner Peter Alexander have led the company for 38 years, focusing on high-quality products, supplier trust, and employee opportunities. He said Boise Cascade is positioned to continue that approach and expand the team's capabilities.

The transaction is expected to close in December 2025, subject to customary closing conditions.
