I recently read an article in the Wall Street Journal which was discussing the write down coming in some energy assets, such as coal reserves, as the economy switches to "greener" energy sources. Like it or not, agree with it or not, there seems to be a move afoot to completely change our acceptable energy sources. You can interpret this as follows: energy is going to get more expensive, a lot more expensive, in this new world.

Covid concerns lead to strike authorization at Veritiv facility

Warehouse workers at Veritiv, represented by Teamsters 117, have voted unanimously to authorize a strike. The strike authorization vote was taken by employees at the packaging giant's facility in Kent, WA and comes after three months of unsuccessful contract negotiations and a number of COVID-related health and safety concerns raised by workers.

Resolute Forest Products Inc. announced the indefinite idling of pulp and paper operations at its Calhoun (Tennessee) mill. Tissue manufacturing and converting will continue at the site and the adjacent distribution center will remain in full operation. The company anticipates that the decision will directly affect 350 hourly and salaried positions at the Calhoun mill.
