Annual PSSMA meeting held

COOPERSBURG, PA (News release) - The Paper Shipping Sack Manufacturers' Association (PSSMA) held its 2021 Annual Meeting November 9-12th in Palm Springs, California. The first in-person meeting for the PSSMA's members in over two years was an exciting and memorable occasion, marked with celebration and gratitude for the long-awaited opportunity for the industry to finally get back together again.

PSSMA Chairman Frederick Moeller of Bancroft Bag noted the positive energy among the group as he welcomed members and guests to the event. Mr. Moeller thanked outgoing Associate Member Group Chairman Scott Clark of Flint Group for his service and welcomed Mark Edwards of Sylvamo as the new Chairman.

Celebrating the highest honor of the multiwall bag industry, the 2021 Richard E. Storat - PSSMA Annual Industry Excellence Award was presented to Mr. Howard M. 'Macy' Wall of Portco Packaging in Woodland, Washington by Chairman Moeller.

Mr. Wall served for decades on the PSSMA's board of directors, as former chair of the Marketing Council, and former PSSMA Chairman from 2007-2008. In a fitting tribute, Mr. Wall gave praise to the all the members and staff, and especially to retired Army Major General Richard E. Storat, for whom the award was named, stating, "In the spirit of this award, Mr. Storat should be honored, not only for his military service, but for literally saving the PSSMA from disintegrating back in 2003." Mr. Storat served as President of the PSSMA from 2003 to 2016 and is currently the Treasurer and Secretary.

The PSSMA also announced its 2022 Annual Meeting will be held November 1-4, 2022, in New Orleans, LA. For photos of the award presentation, please contact PSSMA at 610-282-6845.
