The accident occurred about 8:45 p.m. as employees were performing maintenance work in an operating area that was offline for repairs, according to a statement from the Northbrook, Illinois-based manufacturer.

North Charleston police, firefighters and EMS responded.

An incident report from the North Charleston Police Department states officers were called shortly after 10:30 p.m. to assist firefighters and EMS at the mill located at 5600 Virginia Ave.

A coroner responded to the scene. The victim's identity has not been released.

The injured employee was transported to a hospital and has been released, according to KapStone.

The incident was reported to the S.C. Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
