Can you think of something in your mill of a size of 50 HP (38KW) or larger that you could eliminate?

In my column last week, we asked "Can you think of something in your mill of a size of 50 HP (38KW) or larger that you could eliminate?"

Half said "Yes," half said "No."

Then, we asked, "If you said yes to question 1, what is it?"

Responses:

Pneumatic chip conveyor waiting for a truck or rail unload to blow the chips onto the pile.

We often switch off refiners, depending on the amount of energy used for the specific grade.

Then we asked, "Do you think 10% of the energy consumption in your mill could be reduced by elimination?"

Half answered "Easy," half answered "Difficult."

Off the wall question of the week--One of our great advertisers that affords us the opportunity to bring you all of our publications for free is Louisiana Helicam. What is their product or service?

Answer: Drone Surveys

This week's quiz can be found here.

Jim goes over the Quiz results during the Tech Center Show on Pulp & Paper Radio International every Monday.
