Western Forest Products to install new thermal modification kiln in May 2026

Western Forest Products will install a new thermal modification kiln in May 2026 to expand its offering of thermally modified wood, according to the technology supplier Jartek. The initiative is part of the company's broader five-year vision.

The project involves the integration of a single Jartek thermal modification kiln, described as customizable technology focused on flexibility, precise process control, and long-term operational reliability.

The thermally modified wood product is intended to add value to lower-grade wood fiber within the company's existing operations. The expansion directly supports a strategic goal of growing domestic demand for these specialty wood products.

The kiln installation is scheduled for completion and operational start-up in May 2026. The move aligns with Western Forest Products' plans to increase manufacturing capacity and improve overall fiber utilization.
