This past Sunday afternoon, I took my motorcycle out for a long ride. I find it a good way to decompress and enjoy this immensely. On the way back home, I stopped for gas. Unsolicited, the gentleman at the pump ahead of me remarked, "Wow, you must be close to home!"
Many have decided they can not afford to advertise in conditions such as we find ourselves in now. This is like saying one cannot afford phones or email. There is no more cost effective way to communicate with your prospects than advertising on Paperitalo Publications.

PaperMoney asked me to write a bimonthly column on the industry in “my” area, which is Canada. As the deadline rolls around I find myself in Uruguay, working on a permit application for a new 4000 tons/day mill, and realize that the situation here has much to do with North America.
One of the respondents to last week's survey asked the following: What is the social, environmental, and economic case for having a pulp and paper industry in no more than 300 words? Could be done as a strengths / weakness assessment and should be endorsed industry wide and easily found/available.
About 15 - 20 years ago, the idea of "mini-mills" was all the rage in the paper industry. The concept was to build a simple, one machine mill, using recycled fiber as the feedstock and a package boiler burning natural gas as the energy source. Several were built, some for linerboard and medium production, others for tissue.
