Paper Corea starts up shoe press with record line load for packaging paper in Gunsan, South Korea

Paper Corea Inc. has commenced operations of a new high-efficiency shoe press at its Gunsan paper mill to enhance the strength and production of its packaging paper, according to the technology supplier Andritz.

The installation features the highest line load ever installed for paper production in South Korea. The supplied equipment includes a PrimePress X shoe press, an integrated VIB SteamTech steam box, and press section fabrics. The press increases sheet dryness by over 5% and improves the cross-direction moisture profile by more than 30%.

The enhanced dewatering capability contributes to proven energy savings of up to 20% by lowering steam consumption. The upgrade enables faster machine speeds and ensured the production of high-quality paper from the first production run after start-up.

The installation and commissioning were completed on schedule with integration into the existing paper machine.
