Riddles by Travis:

Answer to last week's riddle: This problem describes a type of pursuit curve (related to Brocard points). For an n sided regular polygon of unit length, the formula for the distance traveled in pursuit is (1/(1-cos(2pi/n))). Jim, Laura, and Fred travel 33 1/3 yards each. See http://mathworld.wolfram.com/MiceProblem.html for more.

Last week's riddle asked: "Jim, Laura, and Fred are at obedience training. They are standing in a field, looking at each other, each one 50 yards (45.7 meters) apart from the other. All at once, they begin to chase each other, each running at the person or dog to their left at precisely the same speed. (We all know Fred runs faster than Jim, but spare me the simplifying assumption). They eventually converge in the middle of their initial arrangement. How far did each person/dog run?"

This week's riddle: Name a country whose name is the same as a type of apparel AND if you replace the "n" in the country name with a "j" and place an "s" at the end, you will have an entire category of apparel.
