Spouses

Last week we asked how spouses affect your work or the work of your colleagues.

Q: What aspects of your worklife does your spouse or significant other impact?  (1 = very little to 5 = very much)

Work Schedule:       Mean   3.0    Std Dev.   1.0

Work Travel:            Mean   3.0    Std Dev.   1.0

Vacation Schedule:  Mean   4.2    Std Dev    1.3

Weekend Work:       Mean   3.2    Std Dev    0.8

Call ins:                    Mean  2.5    Std Dev    1.3

Then things got interesting when we asked this question:

Q: What do you perceive is the impact on your colleagues' worklife of their spouse or significant other?

Work Schedule:       Mean   3.4    Std Dev.   1.8

Work Travel:            Mean   3.8    Std Dev.   1.6

Vacation Schedule:  Mean   3.4    Std Dev    1.3

Weekend Work:       Mean   3.8    Std Dev    1.3

Call ins:                    Mean  3.0    Std Dev    1.8

I guess not surprisingly, folks think their colleagues are more impacted by their spouses than they themselves are--except when it comes to vacaction.

This week we are giving you a break--no quiz.

Want to get a jump on the surveys? Follow me on twitter, where they are posted early. You can do this here. (note: all respondents are confidential; the software is programmed in such a way that neither we nor anyone else can determine who responded)
