Responses to Fantastic Voyage

We did get a couple of responses, although they weren't exactly answers to our question.  The question was "Are you aware of any technology that can measure inside a pulp or paper product without destroying it? If so, please describe."

>It looks like this Voith NipVision technology inside the roll covers is a copycat version of SMART technology that Stowe Woodward has had for several years. http://www.xerium.com/stowewoodward/promotions/smart4Technology.aspx  (note--see letter's column--Jim)

>I know of sensers in a dryer head bolt to give feedback on temperature. What I would like to see is something inside a dryer can to measure either temperature or condensate level. Most of us blow too much steam through to ensure minimum condensate. Is there a opportunity to save energy by actually measuring and controlling.

This week's quiz is here.

Want to get a jump on the surveys? Follow me on twitter, where they are posted early. You can do this here. (note: all respondents are confidential; the software is programmed in such a way that neither we nor anyone else can determine who responded)
