Maintenance Risks

In our followup quiz question last week, we ask respondents to name an items which they feel is neglected in their mill from a maintenance point of view:

1. Electrical system. Plant has an old system dating back to 1929. Due to closures, there are always enough spares to get parts from shut down equipment. However the day is drawing to a close. Estimate of $10 million to get system to current standards.

2. All, because budget tightness.

3. Structure painting, H&V

4. Airhoods

5. Variable Frequency Drive systems. Many of our systems date back to the 60's. If one fails, long down time is incurred. Philosophy is, if it is running why upgrade?
