Friday, July 1, marks one year since N.C. Gov. Roy Cooper announced Roseburg's plans to build a new, state-of-the-art dimensional lumber mill and create 140 new jobs in the Roanoke Rapids region. Plenty has happened since then on the site of the former Roanoke Valley Energy facility in Weldon, N.C.
