Sonoco, one of the largest diversified global packaging companies, today announced the purchase of group annuity contracts from Athene Holding Ltd., a leading financial services company specializing in retirement services, which transfers approximately $900 million of the Company's U.S. pension plan obligations to Athene's wholly owned subsidiaries, Athene Annuity and Life Company and Athene Annuity & Life Assurance Company of New York.
