Ahlstrom to install steel yankee cylinder for PM at Billingsfors mill by late 2026

Swedish specialty paper producer Ahlstrom Sweden AB has ordered a PrimeDry Steel Yankee for its machine-glazed (MG) and specialty paper machine PM6 at the Billingsfors mill, with the replacement of the existing cast iron cylinder scheduled for start-up during the Q4 2026. The order value for the cylinder replacement was not disclosed, according to the technology supplier Andritz.
The new steel Yankee cylinder will replace the current cast iron unit on the specialty paper machine. The project focuses on ensuring long-term drying performance, production efficiency, and operational stability for the mill's MG paper production. The equipment supplier's technological expertise and flexible global manufacturing setup will support the project timeline.
PM6 produces machine-glazed and other specialty papers at the Billingsfors facility. The upgraded cylinder is designed to enable Ahlstrom to continue its MG paper output at a consistent quality and performance level following the replacement.
