VANCOUVER, British Columbia (News release) -- Western Forest Products has begun loading the first batches of lumber into one of two new continuous dry kilns at its value-added division in Chemainus, Canada. The new capacity will increase output of kiln-dried products, including lumber used for glued laminated timber in mass timber applications. The company announced the milestone in its ongoing facility investment.
A second continuous dry kiln is scheduled for installation later in 2026. The project represents part of Western's broader investments in its British Columbia Coastal manufacturing operations, which include modernizing primary facilities and expanding kiln drying, planing, engineered wood products and remanufacturing capabilities.
Western Forest Products is an integrated forest products company building a margin-focused log and lumber business to compete successfully in global softwood markets.
