Walki and Mondi terminate acquisition agreement

ESPOO, Finland -- The Mondi Group announced that it has decided not to acquire two of Walki's industrial packaging plants.

In May 2015, Mondi and Walki launched talks on the sale of Walki's extrusion coatings sites in Pietarsaari, Finland and Wroclaw, Poland. The European Commission raised concerns about the impact on the competition environment. After talks on how to alleviate these concerns, the parties failed to come up with a solution suitable for all parties, Walki said. As a result, Mondi has decided to withdraw the application from the Commission and terminate the acquisition agreement.

Walki has announced that the Industrial Packaging business, including the Pietarsaari and Wroclaw sites, would remain an integral part of Walki's strategy and that the company is committed to develop all of its sites.
