GLENS FALLS (From news reports) -- Heavy smoke drifted over Glens Falls after a tractor-trailer caught fire at the Pregis facility on Peck Avenue on Wednesday, April 29.

Firefighters responded just after noon to a trailer on fire near Building 1 at the commercial facility, which specializes in packing materials and foam-based fabrication. Crews worked to bring the fire under control in about 30 minutes.

The West Glens Falls Volunteer Fire Company handled calls in Glens Falls while Glens Falls firefighters focused on knocking down the fire at the plant.

Officials said the truck driver was taken to the hospital and a firefighter broke a finger. City officials also said one worker was taken to the hospital, but that person's condition was not known.

The Glens Falls Fire Department is investigating. Online photos and video showed thick smoke billowing into the air.
