Pixelle Specialty Solutions appoints Julie Schertell as CEO

Spring Grove, PA (News release) -- Pixelle Specialty Solutions announced Julie Schertell as its new chief executive officer, replacing Ross Bushnell who stepped down to pursue other opportunities. Schertell brings more than 30 years of experience in the specialty materials industry. She previously served as president and CEO of Mativ Holdings, which was formed from the merger of Schweitzer Mauduit International and Neenah Inc. Before that role, she led Neenah Inc. as president and CEO. During her tenure at Mativ Holdings, Schertell led the merger integration and achieved targeted synergies while repositioning the company's portfolio. At Neenah Inc., she guided the company to record free cash flow and expanded into new product categories. Earlier in her career, Schertell held various positions at Georgia-Pacific Company, including vice president of sales strategy and vice president of customer solutions for the consumer products division. She holds a master's degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and a bachelor's degree in accounting from Florida State University. Bushnell will remain with the Spring Grove, Pennsylvania-based company through September as an advisor to facilitate the leadership transition. During his tenure, he oversaw the sale of the Stevens Point, Wisconsin mill and led the closure of the Chillicothe, Ohio facility. "Pixelle has a strong core business, with unique capabilities and a talented team," Schertell said in a statement. "I am excited to lead the company forward by investing in our Spring Grove site and strengthening customer relationships." Pixelle Specialty Solutions manufactures specialty papers with operations across North America.
