Metsä Group will once again employ 16-17-year-olds in summer jobs involving forest planting and yard maintenance at mill sites across Finland. These summer jobs provide young people with a safe and well-supervised opportunity to gain their first experience of working life.

Forest planting positions will be available in June at a total of 16 locations. The employment period lasts four weeks.

"We want to offer young people a positive and encouraging first contact with working life. For many, forest planting is their first paid job, and at the same time it is a concrete way to participate in sustainable forest management," says Maritta Uutela, HR Manager.

Metsä Group also employs young people under the age of 18 at its production facilities through the Tutustu työelämään ja tienaa ("Learn and Earn") internship programme. The duration of the internship periods is two weeks. Interns will be hired for the following locations: Joutseno, Lohja, Mänttä, Punkaharju, Renko, Simpele and Äänekoski.

The internship offers young people an opportunity to familiarize themselves with an industrial working environment and a variety of tasks in a safe setting under adult supervision. These summer jobs can be applied for by students aged 16 or over in comprehensive education, upper secondary schools and preparatory education.

"For many young people, the Learn and Earn internship is an important step towards working life. It is important to us that young people have a positive experience, learn the basic rules of working life, and feel welcome as part of the work community," says Iida Lehtisalo, Recruitment Manager.

In all summer jobs for minors, the age of the young people, applicable legislation, and safety requirements are carefully taken into account. The tasks are designed to be suitable for young employees, and induction and guidance play a key role. No previous work experience is required, but a positive attitude and good physical condition are needed.

More information about the job content is available on Metsä Group's website, (in Finnish). The site also includes application links and clear tips for writing a good application. The application period is from 9 to 27 March 2026.

The recruitment process is conducted anonymously.
