SANTA CATARINA, Brazil (News release) -- Klabin has shut down its Correia Pinto unit in Santa Catarina, Brazil, for general maintenance, which will last until October 26.

The shutdown involves the suspension of operations at the plant for inspection and maintenance of all the equipment in order to ensure operational safety and quality of the production process.

To carry out the maintenance activities, about 1,100 workers were hired, which will bring economic benefits to the city of Correia Pinto since the movement of people in the region will increase considerably.

Klabin is the largest producer and exporter of paper for packaging in Brazil.
