Rajamahendravaram, India (From The Hans India) -- BC Youth Wing city president Dasyam Prasad on Saturday accused the International Paper Mills of discharging its effluents into river Godavari at the cost of the city residents. Because of it, the river water was polluted and become a health hazard, he said.

Participating in a dharna staged at International Paper Mills here, Dasyam Prasad demanded the paper mill management remove its pipelines at Venkatanagaram immediately or they will remove the pipelines carrying the effluents into the river.

Stating that the mill management doing its business mortgaging the interests of the city people, he said that some parties and officials were supporting the mill management and were mum in this regard. "The mill management is testing the patience of people and polluting the river without any fear."

If the mill management fails to stop effluents into the river, a fast unto-death protest programme will also be launched," he threatened. Complaints were lodged against the mill management with Green Tribunal, AP Pollution Control Board in this regard, he said.
