Harvey: How IP's Texas facilities are faring | International Paper, Texas,

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (From news reports) -- Now a tropical storm, Hurricane Harvey has hit close to home for Memphis-based International Paper Co.

International Paper Co. (IP) -- a global producer of renewable fiber-based packaging, pulp and paper products -- employs about 2,700 people in Texas, with facilities spread across the state.

When asked on Tuesday, Aug. 29, if those locations had been impacted by Harvey, IP provided the following statement:

"We remain operational at our sites in Texas. We continue to work our contingency plans on the ground with safety of our people being our top priority."

IP has facilities in the following Texas locations: Orange, San Antonio, Edinburg, Grand Prairie, El Paso, Carrollton, Fort Worth, Amarillo, McAllen, Sealy, Waxahachie and Queen City.

The company has about 55,000 employees across the world. In 2016, the company reported $21 billion in net sales.
