LINCOLN, Maine (From news reports) -- A Lincoln man has been charged with arson in connection with fires Wednesday that destroyed a scale shed and a vacant storage warehouse at the former Lincoln paper mill.

State safety department officials say David Parson, 59, a former mill employee, has been charged with three counts of arson. The third fire at the mill's wastewater facility, went out by itself, officials say.

Parson was arrested around noon on Thursday at the Lincoln police station, where he was being questioned by fire investigators.

Officials say Parson came under suspicion after a state trooper who lives in Lincoln received a tip Wednesday night. Parson was taken to the Penobscot County Jail.
