FOX CROSSING, Wisconsin (From news reports) - Renovations are under way at the site of a former Fox Valley paper mill.

KK Integrated Logistics has purchased the former Clearwater Paper Corp. property at 249 N. Lake St. KKIL, a Menominee, Michigan-based warehousing company, announced the move in a news release Wednesday.

Clearwater Paper announced the closure of its Fox Crossing paper mill in June, laying off nearly 300 employees in the process.

The purchase consists of a 250,000-square-foot warehouse on the west side of Lake Street, KKIL President Cynthia Kuber said in the release, as well as the 1.2 million-square-foot mill site on the east side of Lake Street, with frontage on Little Lake Butte Des Morts.

The warehouse site is being renovated to accommodate a new tenant, Little Chute-based Trilliant Food & Nutrition, that will take over the entire building April 1. Areas of the mill site also will be used as warehouse space, according to the release, and are expected to be ready later this year after all mill equipment has been removed.

Potential uses for the six-story south section of the mill building are being explored. KKIL is conducting a feasibility study to see if converting the space into apartments -- including indoor parking, an outdoor rooftop area and other amenities -- is possible.

KKIL owns 5,300,000 square feet of property across Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana. It bought the former Shopko regional distribution center in De Pere in 2019, which has since been renovated and fully leased to five tenants.
