GREEN BAY, Wis. (From news reports) - Fire crews in Green Bay were on scene at the Procter & Gamble facility on the east side of the city responding to a reported fire in the duct system on Saturday morning.

According to a release, on July 25 at around 9:30 a.m. fire crews responded to reports of smoke coming from Paper Machine 15 inside Building 80 at the facility.

The initial reports stated the smoke was coming from a duct system connected to the paper machine. As a precaution, staff evacuated while fire crews were dispatched.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw increasingly heavy smoke coming from rooftop ductwork, prompting an interior- and roof-level investigation and fire attack.

Large amounts of fire were found in the duct system. The incident was quickly updated to a working fire response, bringing additional engines, trucks, and personnel to the scene.

Crews accessed multiple levels of the machine and duct system, opening hatches and spraying water to put out the flames and contain affected areas. Ladders were used on the roof to access vent stacks showing active fire and smoke.

During the response, interior teams worked strategically to find hot spots and prevent fire expansion to adjacent machinery or structural elements.

Smoke conditions gradually improved, and rooftop crews reported no remaining flames or embers after ventilating and cooling multiple duct sections.

At around 11:00 a.m., fire spread was declared as having stopped, with no further damage occurring. Most exterior units were dismissed shortly thereafter, while interior crews continued checking for residual heat and any remaining embers.

By 11:06 a.m., the majority of responders were cleared from the scene.

No injuries to employees or fire personnel were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with financial damage reports not released.
