MERIDIAN, Miss. (From WTOK-TV) -- Meridian firefighters got the call around one o'clock last Thursday for a fire at a Georgia-Pacific warehouse. They've now determined that fire was no accident.
"It turns out that someone did attempt to set the building on fire and did not do a very good job of it and set the grass on fire and a part of the building," fire marshal Jason Collier says.
The burned metal was a big clue for investigators. Collier says it looks like someone threw a flammable liquid on the side of the building.
"It's very concerning. It's people's lives and their safety and their jobs," he says. "A commercial building like this, there's a lot of potential for fire."
Collier said that with many paper products stored there, the fire could have been very dangerous. They're taking this investigation seriously. Anyone with information is eligible for a large cash reward.
"It's obviously set, and we just feels like somebody knows something, and they might could use an extra 5 or $6,000," Collier says.
