PORTUGAL (News release) -- A serious workplace accident occurred at Valmet's site in Ovar, Portugal, on Friday, January 31, 2020. The accident caused fatal injuries to a Valmet employee. Valmet has initiated an incident investigation, in co-operation with the authorities.
"We are saddened about the loss of life of our employee, and our thoughts are with the deceased's family and colleagues. Investigation of the accident has been started and we're co-operating with authorities to find out how this incident happened," says Luciano Amaral from Valmet.
Valmet is committed to protecting the health, safety and environment (HSE) of our people, customers, partners and the communities where we operate. Valmet produces filter fabrics and other industrial textiles at the Ovar mill and has 440 employees at the mill site.
