Saica Group is thrilled to announce that the EU Commission has approved the acquisition of Thimm Group plants in Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic and Romania as of 24 July 2026. That includes all activities in these four countries: nine corrugated board plants in Alzey (Germany), Wolnzach (Germany), Eberswalde (Germany), Castrop-Rauxel (Germany), Northeim (Germany), Tychy (Poland), Skarbimierz (Poland), Všetaty (Czech Republic) and Sibiu (Romania) and one preprint facility in Ilsenburg (Germany).

With this operation, Saica will increase its corrugated cardboard production capacity by 1,200 million square metres and welcome approximately 2,500 employees into the Group. The acquisition significantly strengthens Saica's manufacturing footprint in Central and Eastern Europe and reinforces its position as one of Europe's leading paper and packaging companies.

Thimm brings a strong regional presence, established customer relationships and extensive expertise in sustainable corrugated packaging and display solutions. The combination of the two businesses creates a broader European platform, bringing together complementary manufacturing networks, customer relationships and market knowledge across key European markets.

The two family-owned companies have maintained a close and successful relationship since the late 1990s, including a strategic sales alliance and a joint venture in Poland. This longstanding relationship provides a strong foundation for the integration process and reflects the shared values, culture and long-term perspective of both organisations.
