HELSINKI (News release) -- Austrian Mayr-Melnhof Holz sold its sawmill MM-Efimovsky in Russia to Aspek-Les, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities of Russia. Since December 30, 2022, the owner of 100% of the shares of Mayer-Melnhof Holz Efimovsky LLC has become Aspek-Les LLC, which belongs to Mikhail Pitkevich. MM-Efimovskiy is no longer listed on the Mayr-Melnhof Holz website.

The production capacity of the MM-Efimovsky sawmill is 380 thousand m3 of lumber and 57.6 thousand tons of pellets per year. The main sawmill's export markets are Japan, Korea and China. In 2021, MM-Efimovsky increased sales by 54% to 10.3 billion rubles ($147 million), while net profit amounted to 3.3 billion rubles ($47 million). The sawmill employs 400 people. The sawmill took 29th place in the financial rating of the 50 largest forest based companies in Russia, published by the Lesnaya Industriya Journal in 2022.

The Euro 80 million sawmill was launched in 2009. In 2017, Mayr-Melnhof Holz invested 850 million rubles ($10 million) in the production of wood pellets at a sawmill.
