NEW ORLEANS (From The Louisiana Record) - A laborer alleges he was burned by hot ash while cleaning a Georgia-Pacific facility in Zachary, Louisiana.

Antwoan Lynotus Sashington filed a complaint on Jan. 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana against Georgia - Pacific LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 5, he was part of an Envirovac Holdings crew sent to defendant Georgia - Pacific facility in Zachary to perform industrial cleaning services when suddenly and without warning hot ash was blown out of the boiler and covered plaintiff. The incident allegedly caused plaintiff to suffer severe, painful and permanent disabling burns to various parts of his body. The plaintiff holds Georgia - Pacific LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to maintain proper control over its equipment and failed to prevent a piece of equipment from falling and striking the subject boiler.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in an amount reasonable under the premises, plus costs and interest, and for any additional relief as the facts, law and equity may require.
