Paper mill workers in India stage dharna

SILCHAR, India (From The Times of India) -- Employees of Cachar Paper Mill, a unit of the public-sector Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited, began an indefinite hunger-strike on Tuesday seeking revival of production at the mill.

Hundreds of employees, under the banner of Joint Trade Union Action Committee (JTUAC), staged a dharna in front of the main gate of the mill in Panchgram in Hailakandi district.

A spokesperson of JTUAC said production has been stopped since the past eight months and the authorities have shown no concern for the employees. The spokesperson added that the agitation would continue until production was revived.
