Fire at Graphic Packaging facility in Michigan

BATTLE CREEK, Michigan (From the Battle Creek Enquirer) -- Damage was estimated at $100,000 to a Graphic Packaging facility following a fire late Friday night.

The fire was reported at 11:35 p.m. Friday. Battle Creek firefighters said the fire began in an overheated oven and spread to an air blower, duct work and the roof.

The first firefighters saw flames through a portion of the roof when they arrived. The fire was extinguished with a stream from the aerial ladder truck and then with hand-held lines.

Thirty employees were evacuated without injury. Seventeen firefighters fought the fire and were at the scene three hours.
