China to review anti-dumping measures on pulp from Canada

BEIJING, China (From news reports) -- China's Commerce Ministry said on Friday it will review its anti-dumping duties on pulp imported from Canada, following a ruling against the Asian nation from the World Trade Organization (WTO) in a dispute over the restrictions.

The review will begin effective Aug. 25, the ministry said in a notice on its website.

China said it imposed anti-dumping duties in 2014 on imports of cellulose pulp - a product used for making rayon fabric, paper, packaging and banknotes - from the United States, Canada and Brazil, prompting Canada to complain to the WTO that year.

The WTO ruling, which can be appealed by either side, said in April that China had failed to show that pulp from Canada had damaged its industry.
