Capital projects and graft

In my column last week, our survey had three questions. The first was, "What do you think of my persnickety use of "supplier" and "owner" or "client"?"

82.4 percent of respondents said it "Sets a proper tone," while 17.6 percent thought it "Places too much emphasis on the 'trivial.'" No one thought it was "Silly."

Next, we asked, "Clients and owners only--select the lowest level supplier gift your consider graft."

Of those who answered, 17.6 percent answered "Sports venue tickets/party," 11.8 percent answered "Dinner," 11.8 percent answered "Hat or shirt," and 5.9 percent answered "Donuts." No one picked "Bass boat," "Shotgun," Hunting/fishing trip," or "Lunch."

Finally, we asked, "Suppliers only--select the first level supplier gift you consider graft."

Of those who answered, 29.4 percent answered "Hunting/fishing trip," 11.8 percent answered "Sports venue tickets/party," 11.8 percent answered "Dinner," 5.9 percent answered "Lunch," 5.9 percent answered "Hat or shirt," and 5.9 percent answered "Donuts." No one answered "Bass boat" or "Shotgun."
